Gordon McWilliam (Aberdeen) Ltd. Commenced trading in 1959 as a retail Butcher operating from shops in Aberdeen. In the late 1970's the company expanded into the catering industry and acquired industrial premises in 1984 to meet increased demand.

In 1991 the company was taken over by current Director Mr Michael Lawrie, Mr Lawrie had developed and nurtured the company to its present position and in April 1997 moved the company to purpose built premises in St Clement Street, Aberdeen which boasts equipment and facilities of the highest standard.

In essence McWilliam's remains a small company but now supplies a large number of leading hotels and restaurants, schools and hospitals with top quality beef, pork, lamb poultry, cooked meats and game as well as meat products such as sausage and burgers produced to individual specification.

The company operates to very high standards and only purchase materials from vendor approved suppliers. From pasture to plate stringent quality procedures are in place to ensure product safety and customer satisfaction.

The company is one of only a handful in Scotland to be approved by the esteemed British Retail Consortium (BRC) where we have achieved an A grade pass. We are also subject to regular inspections from the government's Meat Hygiene Services.

Mr Lawrie recognises that the company operates in a dynamic industry and must be ready to evolve to ensure they meet customer requirements and this has lead to the obvious progression throughout our Factory.

Investment in the company in the last year in premises, plant, equipment and staffing has been necessary to meet demand. Increase legislative requirements and the high expectations of our clients have meant that exacting standards have been achieved in order to capture a greater market share.

Since moving to St Clement Street the company has employed the services of food industry specialists and hygiene consultants, Cameron Food Safety Ltd and Partners in hygiene industrial and all staff have been trained in Food Hygiene. HACCP studies have been applied to operations to ensure standards in the factory are their optimum. In addition, we employ our own Quality Assurance Controller.
